What is the daily routine like at Carnival kindergarten in Ružinov?
The daily routine at Carnival (Bratislava – Ružinov) follows a clear, calmly repeating structure. Thanks to this, children know what to expect and feel safe and secure.
We alternate between:
- free play
- short guided activities (including Montessori elements)
- outdoor time (weather permitting)
- meals
- rest / sleep
The routine is always adapted to the children’s age and the current mood of the group. The goal is for the day to be pleasant, meaningful, and never rushed.
Meals at the kindergarten: are they included, and how do you handle allergies and hydration?
Meals at Carnival (Ružinov) are arranged according to the type of program (full-day, part-time, or hourly childcare). For longer stays, we make sure children have regular meals and snacks, keeping things simple and convenient for parents.
We take allergies and intolerances seriously. At enrollment, we always go through what the child can and cannot eat and agree on a safe, individual approach.
Hydration is a given – children have access to drinks throughout the day, and caregivers naturally encourage them to drink regularly.
How many children are in a group, and how many caregivers are there?
At Carnival (Bratislava – Ružinov), we make sure groups are manageable and safe, never overcrowded.
The number of children and caregivers may vary depending on the time of day (morning/afternoon peak), the children’s ages, and the type of program, but one rule always applies:
We aim for a ratio that allows caregivers to genuinely engage with the children – not just supervise them.
If you’d like, we can tell you the current capacity and availability for a specific day or time when you make a reservation.
How do you handle illness (fever, cough, runny nose)?
Children’s health at Carnival (Ružinov) is a priority – for their comfort and for the protection of others.
If a child has a fever, is clearly unwell, or we see that it’s more than just a mild runny nose, we contact the parents immediately and arrange pickup.
With mild cold symptoms, we assess the child’s overall condition (energy level, sleep, mood, cough).
At the start, we agree on clear and fair rules together so the approach is comfortable for everyone.
Rest / nap time – how does it work?
Rest time at Carnival (Bratislava – Ružinov) is a natural part of the day. After lunch or after a more active part of the program, we move into a calm routine:
- children lie down and rest
- we read a story
- soft music plays
Not every child has to fall asleep – what matters is that they have a moment of calm and recovery.
If a child has their own ritual (a plush toy, blanket, pacifier), they’re welcome to bring it along.
From what age do you accept children for hourly childcare in Bratislava?
For hourly childcare at Carnival (Ružinov), we are not strictly age-limited.
In most cases, children join us from around 2 years old. What matters more than age is that the child meets basic motor skills for safety – ideally, that they can stand and walk steadily.
Children in a group move around, play, and occasionally gently bump into each other, and we want the environment to be safe and comfortable for everyone.
Is it possible to come for just 1 hour?
Yes. We also offer hourly childcare in Bratislava (Ružinov) – exactly for parents who need to step out for a bit:
- bank, errands, shopping
- hairdresser, doctor, work meeting
- or even fitness 🙂
How do reservations and cancellations work?
At Carnival (Ružinov), we offer several types of care – full-month programs, part-time options, flexible models, hourly childcare, and overnight stays.

How far in advance do I need to book?
It depends on the type of program and our current capacity. In general, the sooner, the better.
That said, feel free to call even at the last minute – if it’s possible, we’re happy to accommodate.
What if my child cries or doesn’t want to stay?
This is completely normal, especially during the first visits. We approach children gently and try to calm and engage them through play, activities, connection, and a safe routine.
If we see that it’s not working and the child cannot be comforted, we contact the parent immediately and agree on the next steps.
So far, this situation hasn’t happened yet.
What should we bring with us?
We recommend bringing:
- diapers (if needed)
- indoor shoes
- spare clothes
And feel free to bring a favorite toy or something familiar that helps your child feel safe 🙂
What do “Montessori elements” mean at your center?
Montessori elements at Carnival (Ružinov) mainly mean a practical, respectful approach to the child: respect, independence, and meaningful activities.
Children are given space to:
- choose activities (within safe options),
- do things “by themselves” (getting dressed, tidying up after themselves, simple tasks),
- learn through real-life experience and play, not through pressure or performance.
This is not a “school with desks.”
It’s an environment that supports natural development, calmness, and healthy self-confidence.
What kind of activities do you offer (creative, movement, music)?
At Carnival (Bratislava – Ružinov), we design the program to be varied, but not overstimulating. Activities typically include:
- creative activities: painting, arts and crafts, cutting/gluing, modeling, themed workshops, cooking
- movement: movement games, simple exercises, mini obstacle courses, dancing
- music: rhythm games, singing, simple instruments, movement to music
- age-appropriate educational games: colors, shapes, sorting, fine motor skills, language through play
- free play (often the most important part)
Activities are always adapted to the children’s age and their energy level on a given day.
How do you handle discipline and boundaries?
At Carnival (Ružinov), boundaries are clear but communicated calmly and with respect.
It’s not about “punishment,” but about helping children understand rules and feel safe.
We use:
- simple, repeatable rules (“we don’t hurt others,” “we take turns,” “we put things away”),
- naming emotions (“I see you’re angry, let’s talk about it”),
- redirecting attention and offering alternatives,
- when needed, a short calming moment aside with a caregiver,
- resting together on our little couch.
The goal is not to “break” a child, but to help them learn how to function in a group.
Who is the overnight stay (overnight childcare in Bratislava) suitable for?

It’s also ideal for families who don’t have grandparents “on call” in Bratislava.
If it’s the child’s very first time with us, we recommend starting with a short daytime childcare visit.
What kind of program can a child expect during an overnight stay?
An overnight stay with us is not just “put them to bed and watch them.”
It’s a safe, playful, and at the same time calm experience, allowing children to naturally wind down and fall asleep in the evening.
The program is adapted to the age and mood of the group and typically includes:
- treasure hunts and themed games
- painting and creative activities
- music activities (instruments, rhythm, play)
- a mascot bear (short visit just for fun)
- a beauty night (gentle “spa” style – playful and child-friendly)
- free play and time with friends
- evening movie / fairy tale as a calm transition to sleep
At the end, children also receive a small gift so they take home a positive feeling and a memory from the overnight stay.

How does the evening and bedtime routine work?
Evenings during the overnight stay (overnight childcare in Bratislava) are designed to be pleasant and child-centered:
- light program and games (often themed – treasure hunt, crafts, mini disco)
- calmer part of the evening: fairy tale / movie, reading, relaxation
- hygiene, pajamas, and a familiar “ritual”
- falling asleep calmly, without stress
Children know this is a special evening, and we keep it safe, gentle, and loving.
What if a child wakes up at night or feels sad?
That can happen, and it’s completely normal.
A caregiver is always with the children, comforting them and providing reassurance (a plush toy, water, brief physical comfort, a story or gentle soothing as needed).
If a child remains unsettled for a longer time or we feel they are not coping well, we contact the parents and agree on the next steps.
No drama – safety and emotional well-being always come first.
What should we bring for the night?
We recommend bringing:
- pajamas
- toothbrush/toothpaste (if the child uses them)
- diapers (if needed)
- spare clothes
- a favorite plush toy or blanket (something familiar from home)
- pacifier or bottle, if part of the routine
If your child has a specific bedtime ritual, please let us know – it helps a lot.
